This gif actually freaks me out. You could be making coffee, you could be making love, you could be eating a hamburger—hell, you could be just putting the hamburger into your mouth—or you could be ordering the hamburger, or, you could have been standing for 5 minutes in line and the next one to order a hamburger is you (the Earth should have just exploded 5 minutes earlier and it wouldn’t have made a difference to you), suddenly—the above happens: the Earth… explodes. It becomes nothing. But you don’t even have time to think about it. It just ends—there and then. But then, think about it, why is that a bad thing? When something is bad or good, it is surely so because it has been compared with something else. In this case, however, you can’t compare anything at all—nobody got one second more, or one second less. Nobody lived to be better than you. Nobody died while you lived and was worse off than you. So it becomes that everything ceased to move forward at that particular moment… it becomes a time fossil… whatever there was to be read or examined halted at this particular moment: whether you’re making coffee, or making love, or having a hamburger. Everything up till that point remains true forever. But my fear is not that I cease to exist… my fear comes deeply from the fact that I have not been true to my heart up till that point. The fear ringing deep in my heart comes from not having said “Ilove you” to those who I love.
